Background: Jackson was the first-born of a rather poor farming family.  He lived in South Carolina and it wasn’t until he was five that the farm really started making money.  Jack was home schooled, and helped with things around the farm.  His life was normal, when he was seven his parents had another child, and Jack, uh, came to terms with being big brother to a girl.

His little sisters name was Mary, and once she got old enough to follow Jack around, she started to grow on him.  By the time Jack was thirteen he and Mary were thick as thieves…and by fifteen, war had broken out.

Jacks father enlisted and was soon sent overseas.  This left Jack as head of the house.  He did the best he could for his mother and sister, and the farm survived.  When he turned eighteen Jack decided to join his father in the army.

Jack served for five short months, and then received a bullet to his left shoulder.  The wound left his whole left arm lame.

Jack returned home, and continued to do the best he could for his family.  He took a job doing smaller tasks at the local car factory, since he could no longer do much on the farm.  Everything he did took up all of his time, which meant he had to put his education on hold until the war ended in 1918.

Jack kept working for a couple more years, to save money for college, and help his father adjust back to a normal life.

With the war over, and his father home in one piece, Jack left for college in North Carolina.  His intention was to become a writer, since he couldn’t do much else, and because he’d always held a love for the written word.

He was about to start his freshman year when he was bitten.  He had been walking along the street, enjoying some fresh air when someone bumped into him.  It turned out to be a young lady, who Jack helped to her feet.  Then, without even saying thanks, she turned and left.  Jack was about to walk away when he put his hand in his pocket, and found his wallet missing.

Of course, he turned and ran after the girl.  He chased her into a dark ally, and reached a dead end.  The girl was nowhere to be found.  Jack heard a giggle from behind, turned, and blacked out.  When he woke up, he was a vampire.

He was repulsed with himself, he secluded himself from humanity, until he was nearly dead of thirst.  One night, when he was loosing control, he broke into a butcher shop because he smelled the blood.  When he came to his senses he realized he was eating raw meat, the same way he would have eaten a rare steak as a human.  This new knowledge, that he could feed on raw meat, instead of taking a life made him feel stronger.

Jack slowly discovered his new life was not as terrible as he thought.  For one thing, he regained full use of his left arm and hand, and for another, his intensified sight and hearing let him into a whole new world.  One with unlimited inspiration, unlimited everything.  (that’s all I’m going to say here, the rest would just be spoilers… O:D)
